Abstract

The main purpose of this study is the comparison of the activities organized by preschool teachers in Physical Education with the proposals on the one hand of the developmentally appropriate pedagogical practices and on the other hand of the developmental Physical Education.
In order to investigate the purposeabove, a cross sectional survey design was carried out, in the framework of which a sample was formed with preschool teachers of the Lesvos island. At the same time, a tool was developed to gather data, which was tested for its validity and reliability.
The most important findings include the developmentally appropriate way in which participants organize the various motor activities in Physical Education. An exception is the preference of preschool teachers in free play over structured motor activities, which is not in line with the principles of developmental Physical Education.This last finding consults the main contribution of this study as it reveals a possible contradiction between the statements of the participants and what they actually apply to the educational process.
